Death...

salam..

Death..!! sounds scary rite.. well my first experience seein patient's death in close up when i ws in ENT department.. I couldnt take it n d scene kept on playing in my mind for days.. I had tis 1001 feeln in my heart..
Hard to xplain it in words..then a fren told me tat..it ws normal for first timers.. n eventually we wil get 'used' to it..

Tats wat actually happnd.. Its not tat we get 'used' to death.. but we learnd to manage wit d feelngs..Feeling empathy, sympathy, share their lost..

Yesterday, i ws oncall.. n my duty ws in d resucitation room. A patient wit GCS 4 came in.. Yet me n d resident incharge did watever we could. We did our best eventhough we knew this patient ws long gone.. After awhile, d family arrived n suddly patient had tachycardi..followed by bradychardi.. n we knew its alredi d tyme to let d family knw..

When d resident break d news to them..i ws jus holdng back my tears..(couldnt n cant cry infront of them..) Their cries ws sooo saddening..i can understand their  feeln to loss sumone they love,someone precious...

 Meanwhile, jenazah patient td disiapkan utk dibawa pulang oleh keluarga. Not even within 10 mins later, another patient wit same GCS came in.. and the same whole process repeated again.. ( i didnt follow d patient till d end..hope he made it..)

You see my point...life and death happens all the tyme.. we (doctors) do feel wat the family members felt when they loss their beloved but we couldnt sit at a corner n keep feeln sorry for tat.. A patient died..case closed..prepare for d next patient...do the best we could to save him/her..

Bein a doctor is all about profesionalisme and at the same tyme have sympathy and empathy towards the patients n their family..~ @@ ~
